Default How about better Map Travel

Last night as a party of 4 people and 4 heroes, wanting to go to Doomlore Shrine from our guild hall, we went to Kaineng from there to Boreal Station and then onto Doomlore Shrine. Now if we had wanted to go to Kodash Bazarre we would have had to meet there. Why not give us the ability to travel straight to the town we want for the party size that is legal for that town or outpost without the extra jumps and possible selection of district.

Now for those people who are obviously going to state that the request is due to laziness ...

Yeah, or at the least ability to NOT travel to a town thats going to lag for 30-60 seconds before you can imediatly travel again, you get a bad roll on Lions arch/Komadan/Kaineg and your lagging forever.

Seems reasonable to me, I know the point btween the games are the main ports and harbours.
But if you want to travel further why not, unless its just easier to code it that way.
In which case maybe a few more ports are needed to spread the load.

I'd say there should be an option to zoom ALL the way out, and by that I mean the world map with all continents on it.

Having all the continents on the one map would be great.

I hate having to load Kaineng, LA or Kamadan on my laptop.

I think a textbox that enables you to type in the town could work too (one that also gives auto-suggestions if you're halfway through typing something).

I wish I could have all the continents on the same map, but wouldn't that lag a typical person's computer just pressing "M"? If that didn't happen then it would be the best idea.

That was one of my suggestions for campaign 4 or 5 if they went that far, as they added more campaigns more of the world was known, so have a world map added with sort of the region you want to highlightable. Plus it be cool to see how much of the world we know and where verything is in relation to each other.

Off topic, we know that Tyria and Elona are north and south of each other, but where is Cantha in relation?

Yeah, we have the problem when our guild wants to do a fow/uw run. Here's a typical outing....

Alliance Chat: "Hey, who's up for a fow trip?"
"Me"
"I'll go"
"What's fow?"
"Sounds like fun"
"Ok, everyone who's interested come to the GH"
<time passes>

In Guild Hall:
"Ok, we have 6 people. We need another monk"
"An Ele would be nice, or a Necro"
Alliance Chat: "Any monks wanna come to fow?"
<time passes>

Leader: "Ok, we have 8 now. Let's leave from Chantry"
Monk: "Wait! I don't have NF"
Ele: "I don't have factions. Can we leave from temple?"
Tank: "I don't have factions either"
Ranger:"Um, what's temple? I've always gone from Zin Ku"
Leader:"Ok, does everyone have Temple of Ages?"
Ranger:"I don't know where that is"
Leader:"Do you have LA?"
Ranger:"Yeah, I think so. I've been to Kaineng and gone to Prophecies"
Ranger:"But haven't done much over there."
Tank:"np, I can run you to temple"
Leader:"Ok, warping to LA"
Leader:"Uh oh, party size too big"
Leader:"Ok, tank and ranger split off and run to temple alone."

A half hour later we eventually manage to regroup at temple.

To hell with the map insta-travel in any form. Hoof it across barren landscapes and numerous vicious beasts to get to your destination the old fashioned way!

Someone had to be the counterpoint.

Yes please, do provide a simple system to go instantly to the town of your choice. I hate having to go to Boreal station from an off continent location to get to someplace elsewhere. I don't lag loading any places now that my PC is new, but that skipping to this place to another place is tedious.

What I hope is consolidate all the ship/gates into a single icon, that lets you directly map to a big list of major locations like...
- Ascalon
- Lions Arch
- Dorkners Forge
- Sheng Jea
- Kaineng Centre
- House zu Heltzer
- Cavalon
- Kamadan
- SS Sanctuary
- Kodash
- Gate of Torment
- Gunnars Hold
- Rata Sum
- Temple of Balthazar
... etc.

While a better mapping system is preferable, I like the multi continent map, the fastest way from a-b currently is for 1 person who will be the party leader to go there 1st. Then it is as simple as pushing the leave guild hall button.

It takes a good 2-3 miniutes to load any town when I switch continents on my laptop due to trade spam lagging up Kaineng, LA, and Kamadon. Convience FTW.
